Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Nexal Legal, a cloud-based legal accounting platform operated by Nexal Solutions Limited (“Nexal”, “we”, “us”). By registering for or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
Nexal Legal provides client ledger management, office accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and related workflows for UK law firms. The service comprises the public website, customer portal, operations portal, and solicitor ledger application accessed via single sign-on from the portal.
2. Eligibility and accounts
The service is intended for regulated law firms and authorised personnel. You must provide accurate registration information, maintain the security of your credentials, and ensure only authorised users access your firm's account. You are responsible for all activity under your firm's accounts.
3. Subscription packages
Subscription tiers (Essential, Professional, and Practice Plus) define included user limits and monthly fees as displayed on the pricing page and in your service agreement. User limits include active users and pending invitations. Package details are managed through the customer portal and are the authoritative source for subscription enforcement.
4. Service agreement and approval
Before full access is granted, your firm must complete firm setup, review and accept the service agreement, provide Direct Debit instructions, and receive approval from Nexal Operations. We may approve or reject applications at our discretion. Rejected applications will be notified with reasons where appropriate.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for unlawful purposes or in breach of SRA or other regulatory obligations
- Attempt to access another firm's data or bypass security controls
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the platform
- Share credentials or permit unauthorised access
- Upload malicious code or interfere with platform operation
6. Firm data ownership
Your firm retains ownership of data entered into Nexal Legal. We process firm data solely to provide the service, maintain backups, and meet legal obligations. Upon termination, data export and deletion will be handled in accordance with your service agreement and applicable law.
7. Service availability
We aim to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Planned maintenance will be communicated where practicable. The service is provided on an “as is” basis to the extent permitted by law.
8. Support
Support requests may be submitted through the customer portal. Response times depend on severity and subscription tier. Contact support@nexallegal.co.uk for assistance.
9. Intellectual property
Nexal Legal, its branding, software, documentation, and underlying technology are owned by Nexal Solutions Limited or its licensors. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service during your subscription.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nexal shall not be liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or business opportunity. Our total liability arising from the service shall not exceed the fees paid by your firm in the twelve months preceding the claim, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
11. Termination
Either party may terminate in accordance with the service agreement. We may suspend or terminate access immediately for material breach, non-payment, or security concerns. Provisions that by nature should survive termination (including data handling, liability limits, and governing law) will remain in effect.
12. Privacy
Our processing of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections where applicable.
